Two of the country's largest unions took potshots at Wal-Mart Stores of Bentonville this week.
In separate actions, the United Food and Commercial Workers of Washington asked ABC News to drop Wal-Mart as the network's "Only in America" series sponsor.
The UFCW said in a news release it had sent a letter to ABC News "demanding" Wal-Mart be removed immediately as sponsor, citing "misleading and deceptive advertising."
"Wal-Mart appears to be the primary paid sponsor of 'Good Morning America's Only in America' series, which tells stories of common Americans and their love for the country and its citizens," the union said.
The UFCW claimed Wal-Mart's sponsorship of the program is "hypocritical" since many of its goods are made overseas.
On Monday, the Teamsters Union launched a Web site directed at employees of Wal-Mart distribution centers across the United States. The union said the site was designed to provide Wal-Mart employees "a place to go with questions regarding all aspects of their employment."
"Wal-Mart employees, working for the largest company in the U.S., should not earn less in wages and benefits than what Teamster members enjoy working under their union contracts," the union said.
Wal-Mart stores have long been the target of unsuccessful unionization efforts in the United States.
