FAYETTEVILLE -- University of Arkansas police will be monitoring speeding and focusing on seat belt usage on Stadium Drive today, according to a police official.

Lt. Gary Crain said officers did a visual check for seat belt usage last Friday for 30 minutes on campus and saw 31 offenders.

"I'm sure people most of the time just jump in the car and only go a short distance to class and don't bother putting on the seat belt," he said. "We want them to get in the habit every time they are in a vehicle."

Officers will be monitoring Stadium Drive from noon to 2 p.m.
