The Schlotzsky's deli that closed on Eighth Street in Rogers in January will be reopened sometime in early December under new management, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The Schlotzsky's delis in Rogers and Fayetteville were among the casualties of the Austin, Texas-based company's bankruptcy last year. The deli chain was sold to Bobby Cox Companies of Texas for $28.5 million, which took the company private and renamed it Schlotzsky's Ltd.

Jim Barnes of Rogers is reopening the Rogers deli as a franchise, the spokeswoman said. Former franchiser RKD Restaurants of Fayetteville ran the Rogers deli before, along with a Schlotzsky's in Fayetteville. The Fayetteville location is not set to reopen as yet, the spokeswoman said.

Schlotzsky's Ltd. still has delis in Fort Smith, Little Rock, North Little Rock and Texarkana, the spokeswoman said. A Schlotzsky's deli in Van Buren closed in November 2004.

Craig Hull, whose Hull & Co. agency was handling the sale of both Schlotzsky's delis in Rogers and Fayetteville, said earlier this year the Rogers building was listed for sale at $425,000 and the Fayetteville location for $400,000. RKD also ran a Schlotzsky's in Springdale, which sold last year for $775,000, Hull said.
