SPRINGDALE -- A 41-year-old Prairie Grove man was arrested Sunday evening after police noticed him driving north of Caudle Avenue in Springdale -- on the railroad tracks.
Tim Proctor, a Springdale police officer spotted a light-colored pickup rolling north on the railroad tracks toward downtown Springdale early Sunday morning.
Officer Robert Hendrix moved to intercept the truck at Meadow Street, but the vehicle ran into the ditch at a spur line before reaching Meadow.
The driver did manage, however, to navigate the train trestle behind Central Fire Station No. 1 on Holcomb Street.
Hendrix approached the truck and asked the driver if he knew where he was and the driver responded, "Springdale."
The officer asked the driver, according to a police report, how much alcohol he'd had to drink that evening. The man replied, "I don't know, but it was a lot."
Police report the man tested .21 on blood alcohol content.
Officers placed the man under arrest in connection with driving under the influence, careless and prohibited driving and criminal trespass for driving on the railroad tracks.
The man did not have a valid driver's license, according to the police report.
