ATLANTA -- Saturday's frenetic Southeastern Conference Championship game between Arkansas and Florida was a rare contest that saw three touchdown passes thrown by non-quarterbacks.

Tailback Darren McFadden hit Felix Jones on a two-yard touchdown pass, and receiver Cedric Washington found Jones on a 29-yarder for Arkansas, while receiver Andre Caldwell passed five yards to tight end Tate Casey for a Florida score.

McFadden said about his toss, "It was originally supposed to be a running play, but Felix signalled to me that no one was on him, so I threw the ball to him."

QUICK HITS

* With his 48-yard touchdown reception from Casey Dick with 1:55 left in the first half, Marcus Monk broke the Arkansas career record for touchdown catches with 24. Anthony Lucas held the previous record of 23.

Monk's catch also ended Arkansas' nine-quarter touchdown drought in the SEC Championship game, and it extended his streak of games with at least one reception to 35...

* Florida placekicker Chris Hetland, by making a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead, ended a streak of eight straight missed field goal tries. He had been 3-of-12 for the season...

* Gators quarterback Chris Leak, with his 37-yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin with 4:02 left in the first half, became Florida's career passing leader. The play gave Leak 10,895 yards to that point...

* Jones' 31-yard run for Arkansas in the fourth quarter put him over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. He rushed for 57 yards and has 1,018 yards for the year...

* Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain, who had not played in the Hogs' previous two games, entered Saturday's game with 12:46 left in the third quarter and the Hogs on the Florida 4 with a first-and-goal. Mustain took a direct snap and gained two yards. On the next play, McFadden passed to Jones for a touchdown.

That play pushed McFadden's passing ledger for the season to 6-of-6, with three touchdowns. But he later threw an interception midway through the fourth quarter. He went into the game with a quarterback efficiency rating of 349.60...

* McFadden, with 73 yards on 21 carries, moved his total to 1,558 rushing yards this season...

* Hogs special teams player Mark Bonner of Fayetteville, who tried to fire the Arkansas fans up before a Hogs kickoff with Florida leading 17-7, later made a big tackle on a Gators kickoff return, pinning Brandon James at the UF 15-yard line.

POWELL HONORED

Former Arkansas middle linebacker Cliff Powell, who lettered from 1967-69 and made All-America in 1969, was honored on the field along with 11 other Legends of the Game from SEC schools before Saturday's game.

IRONIC PLAY

A key play in Florida's 34-3 rout of Arkansas in the 1995 SEC Championship Game was Gators nickelback Ben Hanks' 95-yard return of a deflected Barry Lunney Jr. pitch for a touchdown and 31-3 lead.

Eleven years later, Arkansas defensive end Antwain Robinson intercepted a Leak shovel pass intended for Harvin and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown to put the Hogs up 21-17.

Robinson left the game with a knee injury in the fourth quarter.

SPECIAL TEAMS GAFFES

Not only did Arkansas get a punt blocked -- Florida's school-record eighth blocked kick of the season -- that set up a Gators touchdown, the Hogs also allowed Florida to pick up a first down on a fourth-and-10 fake punt from its 15, leading to another Florida touchdown when Reggie Fish muffed an ill-advised punt catch at the Arkansas 5-yard line.

WORTH THE WAIT

Cedric Washington was a redshirt freshman in 2002 when the Hogs last played in the SEC Championship Game. Washington has been used lightly this season (two receptions), but he tossed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jones with 12:29 left in the game.

" Did you notice? It was also Mark Bonner who got tricked and chased after the punter on the fake punt. After the reverse, there was nobody on the right end, where Bonner was, to cut the play off. First down. "

" The fake punt is the big play. You could see the doubt in Leak and Urban Myers eyes. They used all their timeouts, there was blood in the water. If it was stopped, and Arkansas scored from good field position, it would have been 31-17. And Reggie Bush....I mean Fish would have not had the opportunity to give them the easy touchdown. "
