Life goes on. Reggie Fish knows as much.

But even Fish had a hard time telling himself that after committing a game-changing mistake late in the third quarter of Arkansas' 38-28 SEC Championship Game loss against Florida.

With the Razorbacks rallying from a 17-0 deficit late in the second quarter to take a 21-17 lead on an Antwain Robinson interception return with 8:33 left in the third quarter, all the pieces appeared to be falling into place for Arkansas. But the momentum the Razorbacks had gained was quickly swiped away when Fish made a mistake he so badly wishes he could have back.

After forcing Florida to punt on its next drive following the Robinson touchdown, Fish was set up to take a punt return for Arkansas. But instead of calling for a fair catch or even letting Eric Wilbur's deep punt sail over his head for a possible touchback, Fish went for the return.

A bad choice, no doubt, since Fish fumbled the over-the shoulder catch into the end zone, leading to an instant Florida touchdown, an instant 24-21 Gators lead and an instant motivational fist pump for the boys from Gainesville.

"I've just got to come back next week and work 10 times harder in practice," Fish said. "I hate the way it went down. I really don't know what else to say about it."

What Arkansas' coaches and players were saying about Fish's miscue was just what you'd expect.

One play doesn't win or lose a game. But sometimes, one play -- like this one -- really hurts.

"Reggie Fish will make some big plays for the University of Arkansas before he is done, I guarantee you that," Arkansas offensive coordinator and receivers coach Gus Malzahn said. "I just feel bad for him on that play.

"But we all love him."
