ROGERS -- Rogers offensive lineman Lee Ziemba has scheduled a press conference Friday morning to announce that he will attend Auburn University. The news conference will be held in the Commons Area at Rogers High.

Ziemba had more than a dozen offers from Division I schools but narrowed his choices to Auburn and Arkansas. Ziemba took an official visit to Arkansas last month and took a trip to Auburn last weekend.

Ziemba said Wednesday that he had hoped that word of decision would not leak out until Friday. As late as Monday, Ziemba said he was still undecided and praying about the decision despite reportedly giving a verbal pledge to Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville while in Alabama.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound offensive tackle also refused comment on what led him to Auburn or whether the recent turmoil regarding the departures of former Arkansas assistant Gus Malzahn and former Razorbacks quarterback Mitch Mustain influenced his decision.

"I'll talk about that at the press conference," Ziemba said.

Ziemba was a three-year starter at Rogers and was named the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year and the Class 7A Player of the Year by the Little Rock Touchdown Club.

While he has been with the Cowboys, he has helped all of our quarterbacks develop and grow. I think he is an excellent teacher of fundamentals at the quarterback position, and he has a solid grasp of how to develop an effective offensive philosophy with the talent that is available to him." Aldo, do you honestly believe that Mcfadden and Jones and the offense can run the football as effectively next year when other teams are going to stack 8 in the box like the last few teams of 2006 did? When we have no downfield passing game to open up for the run? It doesn't matter who is calling the plays. As long as Nutt and Broyles are there and committed to a simplistic straightforward run offense with no balance, you are destined for a tougher season next year, even after those two scheduled a weaker season to help give themselves room. Plus nationally UA isn't respected and is a joke! "

Mr. Ziemba is smart enough to see it and is going to where he can be coached by a quality staff that will develop him and lead on teaching advanced skills instead of cheering and spreading lies and deceit. He could have developed into another great lineman. it is a shame that Arkansas is thought of so poorly that the young man left the state..sounds familiar though...Tennessee has taken a number from Arkansas along with USC, auburn. With the negative publicity against the UA now including the negative ad against Broyles and Nutt in today's DemoZette, the noose is tightening. In this case Nutt can't blame the NCAA investigation for future failures or anything but himself for losing instate recruits. One thing is for sure!!! If Arkansas loses in state recruits, we will not be a winning program. The ten wins this year will not happen again any time soon. Look to lose to Bama next year because their coach can STOP a one dimensional offense with absolutely no threat of a pass. Ole Miss will be able to stop our weak passing game. Their coordinator and the rest of the SEC will have all off season to stop the Wildcat. They will do it! We will lose to Tenn, SC. We will qualify for the Liberty Bowl but goodbye Heisman with a mediocre record. "

In a previous story http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/2007/01/06/sports/010607emfingersider.txt The story quoted you as saying the following: Ziemba said he got plenty of advice from some fellow teammates this week. Three players -- Grant Cook, Seth Oxner and Grant Freeman -- all played on the West offensive front and gave the Rogers player plenty of advice. "They all told me they wanted me to go to Arkansas," Ziemba said. Freeman, of Paris, played tight end Friday, and said he talked with Ziemba often about picking Arkansas. "We have been talking all week about that," Freeman said. "It was great to play with the other guys (Cook and Oxner) and it would be great if Lee joined us." Leaving friends are one of the hardest things to do; leaving them at home (Arkansas) while you go out of state is just not right. You will be thinking of this all the time, wondering if you had gone to Arkansas, been involved with guys you really like. If you stay where your friends are and with the same likes and dislikes. For everyone who complains about the Springdale kids & Gus, their hiring and signings generated more excitement in the Hog program than anything I can remember in my memory. That coupled with the 10 win season this year really had everyone pumped up! Now this! What's next? Yes, we still have McFadden and Jones, but what about after next season when they both declare for the NFL draft? Then what? David Lee has been here TWICE already and what was gained from that? ONCE WAS FOR KEN HATFIELD in the SWC days! And as for Broderick Green, who said in an interview that UA was the 11th or 12th school to contact him, Otis Kirk said on Sports Rap that Danny Nutt had another running back listed higher than Green. Hmmm, USC went after him and he signed. USC, who's won national championships under Carroll and 2 consecutive Heismans didn't obviously didn't rate that RB higher, but a Nutt did. Interesting. "

I agree with a previous writer that the hiring of a rehashed coach who can't stay in a job is not the best thing. The up side is he can teach fundamental skills to QBs. It should not take too long to teach passing techniques because we won't need them in this antiquated warn out offense. We need to send our offensive staff to one of the academies to learn how not to move the football in the SEC. The wildcat worked some this year until they figures it out the last three. One problem I have always had is the Nutt coaching staff has NEVER OUTSCHEMED ANYBODY. We might outathlete certain teams but when we play the Spurriers, Richts, Sabans, etc., we cannot beat them without better athletes. We only beat Saban when he first got there with the Miracle of Markham. We are outcoached all the time with a Nutt offense! "

" Way to go, Lee. I didn't want another reason to watch the Razorbacks next year. The hope Guz and the Springdale boys brought was the only reason I became a Razorback fan last season after 15 years of living in NWA. You deserve a school without all this drama from a jealous Nutt. You and Gus are class acts and deserve better. "

" David Lee has been assistant coach at Arkansas twice before. Whay did he leave? I don't remember but is the third time a charm. I don't think so. He has to answer to Houston who has to answer to Frank. He is going to be quarterback coach - what quarterback. Frank and Houston run off any prospects we may have had or had to chance to have. And then more drivel coming from Houston lying lips. "
