" Local channels are reporting the same. Seems, Creighton is having a meeting with the team at 8 or 9 tonight and Altman is present? I just don't get it? Can't blame anyone but Altman for this. A man is only as good as his word. If he backs out we don't need or want him. Come on Frank, get us a coach, one that can take us all the way. Get Vinney!! I heard he wants the job! Oh baby, what a mess. "

" Altman seemed like a nice guy and a good fit for Arkansas ,but maybe he has deeper roots in Omaha. He didn't seem to sure when he held the press conference at Arkansas.Maybe he feels a bit overwhelmed by the step up to the sec conference. They say you don't know what you have till its gone!!!! "

" Okay, so the guy stayed long enough to embarrass himself by calling the Hogs. Let's capitalize on the chaos and have a reality show called "Who Wants to Coach the Razorbacks?". It would certainly be entertaining and bring a lot of publicity to the school, not to mention a definite boost in ticket sales! "

" Reality show? What a great idea! Frank, call FOX! "Arkansas Coach"! It's a winner! If we are going to look stupid at least get a big payday of the university. "

" Why isn't it Ole Frankie's fault. He tried to force Gillispie into taking the job last week. The basketball program has joined the football program as jokes. Clean out the desk. "

" I saw him (altman)on tv not wanting to call the hogs, it was like he didn't know how but comon, everyone knows how. And you would think that for a cool 2 million a year you would at least act like you could call them......Please get someone that at least looks like they want to be here. Maybe ask Nolan back? lol "

OMA FAN wrote on Apr 3, 2007 7:03 PM:

" Good luck getting another major coach in there after a "mid-major" declined after he has basically runined his rep for a couple years, looks like that new AD is needed quicker than expected, sorry to Razorback fans and not giving Altman any credit as he was/is making 1.4 mil here in OMA and playing games like this does not reserve respect, embarrasing to both programs. Local stations are eating this up in Omaha and saying they should have a welcome party, he better have a good reason for this mess. "

" Karma, I know you're being facetious, but Nutt has given the UA sports program a lot bad publicity complete with integrity issues all the way up to the top. Don't think for a moment that Altman couldn't see himself in Gus Malzahn's shoes a year from now. The powers that be have a record of turning on new people. "

" Now what? What coach would come here after all of this mess? First, in football and now basketball. I know it's not all Frank's fault, but enough is enough. Let's just hire someone and move on. "

FireFrank Fanclub wrote on Apr 3, 2007 7:32 PM:

" The entire athletic program is a mess. Part is probably due to Frank, part due to fans who have a hard time separating Razorback world from the real world. Lets see if there is MAYBE one or two things that Arkansans could more profitable focus on, rather than Razorback sports. To start... can anyone spell A-C-A-D-E-M-I-C, as in FOCUS ON ACADEMICS for a change??? "

Disgruntled Hog Fan wrote on Apr 3, 2007 7:53 PM:

" John Wooden's famous quote "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail", applies spot-on to the Hogs coaching search. They missed on their bad assumption that Gillispie would come running at the job offer. There was no plan B. In their rush to make a hire, they obviously did a poor due diligence with regards to Altman's interest and commitment level. Let's face it, with a lame duck AD and all the recent bad publicity, what "top tier" coach would want the job? "

JimBob wrote on Apr 3, 2007 10:00 PM:

" Frank Broyles has to go. He was so anxious to get to the Masters, he was cavalier about the hiring of a new BB coach. To restore the integrity of the program, Chancellor White should accept his resignation. The press conference to introduce Altman was botched and looked amateurish. The Hog Call was totally unnecessary and Broyles didn't even introduce Altman with any degree of decorum. Find a new AD who will coach basketball and offer him the combined position. That may attract a good coach and send a message to Nutt to get his resume ready as well. This makes the state of Arkansas look like a bunch of yokels, which we are not, but it's gonna be the talk of the sports media nationally for weeks to come. Maybe we ought to listen to Jay Bilas for a change. "

WebHogfan wrote on Apr 3, 2007 10:02 PM:

" What a circus! Frank should have been gone 10 years ago and has contributed to the U of A athletic program losing a lot of credibility. The truth is no great coach will come to the U of A until Frank is "officially" gone. I personally thought this was a rebuilding year for the basketball program and that Heath did a pretty decent job. "

JimBob wrote on Apr 3, 2007 10:13 PM:

" Hire pat Summitt! Maybe she can get players to go to class as well. Stan Heath was a descent human being and I'm glad he landed a great job in Florida. "
