BENTONVILLE -- The new YMCA of Northwest Arkansas needs help from organizations and businesses that support healthful living programs.
The YMCA of Northwest Arkansas is a start-up organization that's planning a Healthy Kids Day to promote active lifestyles for children and families. The exhibition is scheduled 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 at Memorial Park in Bentonville.
"It's a Saturday, so there will be plenty of soccer and baseball going on -- a perfect venue for other sport organizations to promote healthy lifestyles," said Don Romoser, a local YMCA board member.
Romoser anticipates athletic organizations, health care providers, businesses and summer camp groups will want to participate.
"We would love the opportunity to give them the opportunity to show off their wares, so to speak," Romoser said.
Romoser is concerned about childhood obesity and notes "activity is a key driver in keeping children healthy in body."
The nonprofit organization welcomes religious and educational organizations to exhibit information, as healthy minds and spirits are a part of the mission of the YMCA of Northwest Arkansas, according to www.ymcanwa.org.
The event is free to attendees. The YMCA will provide exhibitors a 12-foot-by-12-foot area for free but charge exhibitors $25 extra per 12-by-12 space.
For more information, contact the YMCA of Northwest Arkansas at 426-2344 or www.ymcanwa@cox.net.
