The Morning News Wins Top Newspaper Award

    The Morning News on Saturday was named the best among the large daily newspapers in the state in the annual Better Newspaper contest sponsored by the Arkansas Press Association.

    Current and former staff members of The Morning News won 27 awards and two honorable mentions in the contest, including a first place in general excellence category, the association announced Saturday in Fort Smith.

    Second place in general excellence went to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, third place to the Benton County Daily Record and an honorable mention to the Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville.
