Mary Beth Brooks, President and CEO of The Bank of Fayetteville, has been named one of The 25 Women to Watch, part of U.S. Banker's The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. The annual ranking recognizes an individual's leadership skills, financial performance (three-year average, as well as year over year), job complexity, contribution to the institution's top and bottom lines, product development, brand equity/shareholder value creation, community involvement and reinvestment, corporate governance and ethics, management style and education.
Ken Leavell has been named supervisor of the Arkansas State Bank Department's commercial examination group in Northwest Arkansas. The group is based in Springdale. Leavell has 24 years of experience in bank regulation and commercial banking. He has been a commercial examiner with the Bank Department for almost four years. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, and is a 2005 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado.
Signature Bank has promoted Christine Morrison to president of Signature Mortgage. She has 17 years of banking experience and previously held the title of executive vice president/senior mortgage lender for Signature Bank.
The Bank of Fayetteville has hired Joey Payne as its senior vice president and area loan manager. Payne previously worked as a regional supervisor with the Arkansas State Banking Department. Payne earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas.
Nexstar Broadcasting Group has announced the appointment of Blake Russell to serve as the company's vice president of marketing and operations. Russell has served as vice president/general manager of Nexstar's KNWA (NBC) Fayetteville, and KFTA (Fox) Fort Smith, since 2004.
Mike Vaughn, will replace Russell as vice president and general manager of KNWA. Vaughn has been director of sales for KARK Little Rock and KNWA/KFTA since August 2005. Prior to that, Vaughn was general sales manager at KNWA/KFTA and local sales manager at KSFX/KOLR Springfield, Mo. He also held various sales positions at KPBI and KPOM/KFAA Fayetteville/Fort Smith.
Jill Wager, the vice president for development at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, has received the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential. Wagar has a bachelor's degree in marketing and public relations from Oklahoma State University. Before coming to NWACC, Wagar was development director at The Children's Center in Bethany, Okla.
The Arkansas Hospitality Association has announced that David Culpepper of Subway/Culpepper Company in Fayetteville, will serve as first vice president on the association's board for the 2007-2008 year. Jed Bullock, owner and manager of Best Western Eureka Inn in Eureka Springs, will serve as first vice president on the Arkansas Lodging Association for its 2007-2008 year. The ALA is an division of the Arkansas Hospitality Association.
The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced new additions to its board of directors. New to the board for the 2008-2010 terms are: Terri Brooks, senior vice president of sales, The Coleman Company and Pure Fishing Inc.; Tony Dunning, vice president, Global Business Development, Kimberly-Clark; Gary Jackson, founding partner and CEO, Hight Jackson Associates PA; Cameron Smith, president, Cameron Smith & Associates Inc.; Dewitt Smith, president and CEO, Cooper Realty Investments Inc.; and Greg Spragg, executive vice president, Operations, Sam's Club.
Also joining the board in 2008 will be Wayne Callahan, president, Global Wal-Mart Business, H.J. Heinz. Callahan will step into the chair-elect position in January, having served on the board from 1997-1999.
Several ex-officio directors have also been appointed to the board for 2008, including Keven Anderson, Mark's Electrical & Plumbing; Nathan Gairhan representing Main Street Rogers; Dan Hendrix, Arkansas World Trade Center; and Don Lovette, Tyson Foods Inc.
