FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas running back Darren McFadden said Monday that he's feeling "pretty good" two days after being bothered by bruised ribs.

As a precaution, the Heisman Trophy candidate underwent a routine scan Monday. The scan showed that McFadden doesn't have any cracked or fractured ribs.

"I think he's feeling much better. He had a scan today on the rib cage, and I think he's doing good," Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said Monday afternoon. "I talked to the doctors. (They said) that he's going to be fine."

McFadden is expected to practice this afternoon and play Saturday night when Arkansas hosts No. 22 Auburn in Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

"I anticipate he'll be fine," Arkansas athletic trainer Dean Weber said. "I anticipate he'll probably practice (Tuesday)."

The bruised ribs appeared to bother McFadden in last Saturday's 34-15 win over Tennessee-Chattanooga in War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

The junior rushed for a season-low 122 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries, and he also fumbled the football twice in the first half.

McFadden said his fumbles were less about his sore ribs and more about him not securing the football properly. But he admitted that the injury had been bothering him in the days leading up to the game.

"It was a little sore all week. It's been sore and just probably a lot of the pounding I took (Saturday) just added to it," said McFadden, who stands 32 yards shy of becoming Arkansas' all-time leading rusher.

Despite the injury, McFadden said he's not about to change his running style to protect his ribs. He's a physical runner, period.

"That's my running style and I don't feel like that's something I can just change in the middle of my career," McFadden said. "It's something I've been doing for the past 10, 11, 12 years, so it's something that I'm probably going to stick with."

Injury Update

Arkansas wide receiver Robert Johnson, who missed Saturday's win because of a foot injury, is expected to practice today.

Meanwhile, Nutt said he doesn't expect wide receiver Marcus Monk to make his long-awaited return Saturday night.

"Boy, I'd love to say yes," Nutt said when asked Monday if Monk had a chance to play against Auburn. "I just don't think he's going to be ready."

Monk, who was Arkansas' leading receiver last season, has missed the first five games of the season while rehabbing from a second arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Harrison Pleads Not Guilty

Arkansas defensive tackle Marcus Harrison pleaded not guilty Monday to four misdemeanor charges stemming from his Aug. 24 arrest for speeding and possession of Ecstasy and marijuana.

Harrison pleaded not guilty to the charges of possession of a controlled substance, not wearing a seat belt, driving on a suspended license and failure to appear. The failure to appear charge involved another incident.

Harrison's plea was phoned into Fayetteville District Court on Monday morning. His trial is set for Dec. 12.

The senior also has a trial set for Nov. 20 in Washington County Circuit Court relating to his felony charge of possession of an Ecstasy pill.

Harrison was suspended for the Sept. 1 season opener against Troy University, but he rejoined the team the following week.

The Little Rock native has started two games this season, and he has six tackles in four games.

Not on TV

Arkansas' Oct. 20 game at Ole Miss will not be televised. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

" He will be sore again at the end of the game because HDN will run him up the gut 25 times against a stacke line. HDN needs to leave, fast. Time for change folks. Call the masses. "

" IT WONT MATTER MUCH, WE'RE GONNA PUT 12 IN THE BOX, AND HE WILL END UP WITH 5 YARDS ON 42 CARRIES. ARKANSAS WILL KICK 4 FG'S AND LOSE 56-12, MOST OF THE PTS WILL COME IN THE FIRST QRTR, AND THEN WE WILL BRING IN KB TO KILL YA THE REST OF THE NIGHT. "

" AUBTIGERSRULE, you do know there are only 11 players per side on the field at a time right? That kind of stuff is what has gotten Auburn in trouble in the past. "

" My thoughts on why we are 3-2 instead of 5-0 and in the top 5, yes thats rite top 5. Alabama game, concussion to dmac, no concussion bama never gets the ball back, bad play call, giving CD the choice of running or passing the ball on third down which everybody knows what happened, run the ball 38 to 45 seconds less on the clock never wouldve got the TD. I do have a question if anyone can anwser, why didnt we make bama rekick with the 8 seconds on the clock with Felix returning kickoff returns the way he has been doing all year, feel we might have been able to do a little better than the 35 yard line. Kentucky, players having the virus and dehydrated (dmac & felix mostly) and MS fumbling the ball before the half turns the game around completely, the other two healthy and we get another 3 or 7 (confidence breaker for Kentucky) put that with a inexperienced secondary with no CH whos playing on sunday now and you have the reasons of why I think we lost those 2 games. "

" doublereedhawgcaller, we lost the games because we had the lower score. A great leader I was once privilaged to report to explained to me that the best answer to give when you get beat or mess up is "NO EXCUSE SIR!" Then you fix it. That is the mark of learning from mistakes and great leadership. You know the errors so usually that means so does everyone else. Acknowledge the mistakes and fix it no need to announce it. In sports that is the difference between good coaches and great coaches. "
