A Bella Vista woman died Sunday when a tractor-trailer struck the vehicle she was riding in at Jane, Mo.
The accident occurred at 10:20 p.m. at an intersection along U.S. 71, according to a report.
Michael Sams, 49, was driving north in his 2005 Kenworth tractor-trailer when it struck the passenger side of a 2002 Buick driven by Harry Black, 40, of Pineville, Mo., the report said. Black's passenger, Tara Clark, 36, of Bella Vista was pronounced dead at the scene.
Black was flown to Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville for serious injuries. A hospital spokesperson said Monday afternoon that Black was in fair condition. Sams was not injured.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Dan Bracker said the accident is under investigation by a crash investigation team. The team investigates all accidents involving a tractor-trailer, he said.
