"He runs a really good system, and he's a proven guy, a proven winner. I hope that he can bring that here and keep the recruiting class that we had going. He can recruit pretty well, and he actually runs the ball quite a bit. I think everything that we needed, he's got."

-- Kyle Stiles, 26, Centerton

"All I really know about him is what I've seen in Atlanta. I think it's cool that we're getting an NFL-caliber coach. All of the losses there don't really worry me since the Falcons really built their team around Vick. Without Vick, they're not a team. I don't blame Petrino for that."

-- Travis Pennington, 21, Fayetteville

"I just said, 'Wow.' I didn't see it coming. I saw it on CNN, and then I was looking for the DVR remote, like, 'Did that just happen?' At first, when I saw 'Breaking News' on the screen, I thought it was something about Vick, about him escaping from jail or something. It's kind of weird because he's taking a pay cut for someone like us. It's a huge pay cut. It was weird to see a professional coach go back to college. It's usually college to pro. He basically demoted himself."

-- Cody Miller, 22, Fayetteville

"My first reaction is that I think it's going to be a decent change. Bobby Petrino did well at Louisville. Petrino is big on discipline and he's real stern."

-- Justin Slaughter, 24, Wynne

"He's from the NFL, so he's going to bring a different, new element to Arkansas football. I think it'll be a change for the better. His time in Atlanta doesn't worry me because it's two different ballgames. I heard his program was decent at Louisville, but he can probably get more talent here, so he could be even better here."

-- Harvey Williams, 25, Wynne

" I think he is just what Arkansas needed. I am so excited for our football program. We needed a class act and I think we have found him. I liked his comments from last night "forget the past and look to the future." I think we as hog fans should step up and get behind our new coach. "

" I'm curious to see how loyal he will be when another job opens up somewhere else around the country. He signed a 10 year deal w/ Louisville, then bolted for the NFL the next season. He signed a 5 year deal w/ Atlanta, and was gone before the season ended. Hope he'll work out, only time will tell "

" indyhog.... Look at it this way..... if you were a college coach and had the chance to coach in the NFL what would you do? Go to the NFL. I don't think it was a good fit for him and he realized that. I hear all this talk about him not staying and finishing his contracts. There is always going to be negative comments made no matter who is hired. I say let's give him a fair chance and stand behind him. Don't run him off before he gets started. "

" As a Hog fan living in the Louisville vicinity I saw him do a great job at UofL. I am not as excited as some though as I saw the way he handled job openings during his time at UofL, i.e. Auburn, LSU, Oakland. He outright lied to the athletic director at UofL on numerous occasions. It makes me wonder if his time in Fayetteville might be short lived. "
