FAYETTEVILLE - It turns out those fans who got to see the Greenwood-Camden Fairview semifinal playoff game a few weeks back got to see two future Arkansas quarterbacks instead of just one.

That's because Greenwood senior quarterback Tyler Wilson (6-foot-3, 185 pounds), who has passed for more than 8,000 yards and 92 touchdowns the past two seasons, flipped from Tulsa to the Razorbacks on Sunday.

Wilson did so after meeting with new UA offensive coordinator Paul Petrino on Friday and then came to Fayetteville to visit with new Razorbacks coach Bobby Petrino on Sunday.

"Wow, news gets around fast," Wilson said. "I just committed to Arkansas about five minutes ago. I came up today and visited with Coach (Bobby) Petrino. He offered and I sit on it for a few hours, but then my mom and dad and I made the decision together and we think it is just the best fit for me."

Wilson becomes the 20th UA commit of the 2008 class, but the first one that Petrino has brought aboard.

Wilson, who has been the starting quarterback the last two years for the three-time state champion Bulldogs, joins Camden Fairview quarterback Jim Youngblood as Razorback quarterback commits in the 2008 class.

The switch did come with a tough call that had to be made to Tulsa co-offensive co-ordinator Gus Malzahn.

"That was really tough calling Coach Malzahn, but I just think that coming to Arkansas is the best thing for my future," Wilson said. "I am very excited about the opportunity."

Wilson had offers from LSU, Alabama, Missouri, Oregon, Arizona, Kansas and a host of others before choosing Tulsa right before the season started.

The former Arkansas staff did not offer Wilson a scholarship, apparently in part because he also is an outstanding baseball player that could be taken high in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft in June.

He could play college football and pro baseball, college football and college baseball or could pick one of the two to concentrate on.

"Coach Petrino and I talked about the baseball thing," Wilson said. "The baseball draft is so unpredictable and you don't even know how high you are going to be drafted even the night before the draft.

"My feeling right now is I am coming to play football for Arkansas. I am not even sure if I got drafted high that baseball would be something I want to do."

Wilson passed for 3,939 yards and 42 touchdowns his senior season after a junior campaign in which he tossed for 4,222 yards and an amazing 50 scores.

He passed for 582 yards and 6 touchdowns in a 56-55 state championship win over Pulaski Academy back in 2006.

"In talking to coach Petrino about his offense, they do things a little bit different than we do at Greenwood, but we use the same concepts," Wilson said.

Both Arkansas and Nebraska had made a move on Wilson recently.

"It just feels great to be able to commit to Arkansas," Wilson said. "It's going to be fun to be able to represent a great state and a great program."
