FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas swingman Sonny Weems kicked his feet back and forth as he sat in the interview room Wednesday night.

Weems had just led his team to a 90-59 win against Northwestern (La.) State in Bud Walton Arena, but he didn't give much thought to how much he contributed.

Weems finished with a game-high 21 points -- it was a season-high for him -- in 26 minutes of playing time.

His early point production sparked the Razorbacks' effort.

"Nothing really changed for me, just being aggressive," Weems said. "I just wanted to help my team my scoring some points. I just came out more aggressive than all the other games."

Weems said it kind of reminded him of a playground game.

"Yeah, it kind of did," he said. "And it was like an old high school game when I would get four or five dunks a game. It's great playing a game like.

"I don't worry about points to much, I just do whatever. I'm a team player. I've been a team player my whole entire career. I just do whatever to help my team player."

In the span of two minutes in the first half, Weems scored six straight points, four coming on dunks.

"You know, if they throw it up there, I'm going to go get it," Weems said. "I make point guards look good when they throw alley-oops in there. Coach called a lot of them in practice and I knew he was going to throw a few up them in the game."

Out Of A Slump?

Razorbacks sophomore guard Patrick Beverley looked like he was back on his game Wednesday night.

Beverley, who scored only 24 points in the previous three games, scored 16 points. He also dished four assists and had five steals in 28 minutes of playing time.

"Oh man, coach (John) Pelphrey and the staff still believed in me," Beverley said. "My teammates did a great job of finding me in the corner and I also think they did a good job of boosting my confidence the last couple days of practice.

"Good shooters go through things like this. I'm just happy to get over this little thing. I wouldn't really call it a slump, just a little thing I was going through."

Sign of Unity

All five Arkansas starters began the game wearing headbands Wednesday night.

Why?

"Oh, it was just a sign of unity," Beverley said. "It was me and Gary's (Ervin) idea."

Coming Attractions

Arkansas returns to the court at 2:05 p.m. Saturday when it plays Appalachian (N.C.) State in Alltel Arena in North Little Rock.

The Razorbacks then return to Bud Walton Arena on Dec. 29. On that date, Arkansas entertains Louisiana-Monroe.

The Razorbacks meet Baylor at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 5 in American Airlines Arena in Dallas. They open the Southeastern Conference schedule at Auburn on Jan. 10.
