FAYETTEVILLE -- Super Sunday turned out to be Flip-tastic for the Arkansas football program.
The Razorbacks took Texas cornerback prospect Tramaine Thomas (6-toot-1, 175 pounds, 4.5) from Arizona and Louisiana preps tailback-safety Jerico Nelson (5-10, 205, 4.4) from Purdue.
Those two commitments ran Arkansas total pledges to 21 in the 2008 class with national signing date looming on Wednesday.
Thomas, who shined on both offense and defense for Winnie (Texas) East Chambers, actually committed to Arkansas during the Super Bowl.
"I really liked the coaching staff, the facilities and just how all the people around there really support the school," Thomas said. "The fact that I could come in and possibly play right away was a big factor also."
Thomas, who took his official visit to Arkansas on Jan. 25-27, was an all-star quarterback for East Chambers and rushed for 1,300 yards and 30 touchdowns this season while also throwing for 850 yards and 7 more scores.
He also shined at cornerback where he had 105 tackles and picked off 11 passes and is rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
"Coach Petrino told me that I would come in as a cornerback and that there would be get a chance to make an impact right away," Thomas said. "He also said he could see me playing some wide receiver because I have such good hands."
Nelson (5-10, 205, 4.4), a four-star prospect who helped lead his Destrahan team to a 15-0 record this season, confirmed via text on Sunday that he will be signing with the Razorbacks.
He was a standout running back and safety for Destrahan and has been told he will have the opportunity to play both at Arkansas and also return punts and kickoffs.
Nelson, who took his official visit to Arkansas this past weekend and is regarded as one of Louisiana's best two-way players, ran for over 1,300 yards and 32 touchdowns as a senior.
He had eight interceptions as a sophomore while playing at River Ridge (La.) John Curtis, where current UA prospect P.J. Smith starred.
