SPRINGDALE -- Not much of anything could match Greenwood's offensive prowess Monday.

Greenwood scored six runs in the first two innings and easily went on to beat Springdale High 23-8 in a nonconference game at Hunt Park.

The Lady Bulldogs (4-4) totaled 15 hits, including six in the seventh inning where they scored an additional nine runs.

"We've been swinging the sticks OK to this point, mostly because the weather is getting a little warmer," Greenwood coach Jim Hillman said. "But that's been our strength. And it's not just one or two of our players, it's top to bottom on our lineup."

Each player on Greenwood's lineup had a hit and scored a run, contributing to its biggest victory of the season.

Greenwood's Jill Barrett went 3-for-3 with an RBI and six runs scored while Paige Fair went 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs.

Springdale (0-6) had trouble from the start on offense and didn't score its first run until the third inning when pitcher Chloe Brown hit a two-run triple, scoring Erica Graham and Whitney Watson.

Springdale scored three more runs in the fourth on three hits and one in the fifth on a RBI-double from Kody Avalos.

"Those three innings where we got some things going was fine, we finally settled down," Springdale assistant coach Kole Carpenter said. "But we're still making too many mistakes as a ballclub."

Defensively, Springdale committed eight errors; Brown also threw seven wild pitches, four of which Greenwood scored runs off of.

"It was a tough day, there's no question about that," Carpenter said. "We're a young team and we've just got to keep trying to get better so we don't make mistakes."

Leading offensively for Springdale was Brown, who went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored. Avalos also contributed with two hits and an RBI.
