Productive Outing

Arkansas starting pitcher Sam Murphy, who had a 5.50 ERA coming into the game, worked a career-high six innings. It was one of his most impressive outings of the season. He gave up 1 run, 4 hits, and struck out 3.

Murphy picked up his first win of the season against two defeats. His previous career-high was 5 1/3 innings against Centenary on March 26.

Big Night For Darr

Arkansas deginated hitter Andrew Darr had a career-high 4 RBIs on Wednesday night. His previous career-high with 2 RBIs. Darr, too, tied his career high with three hits.

Darr, who went 3-for-4, had a two-run home run in the second inning and a two-run single in the fifth inning. In his other at-bats, he grounded to third in the third inning and singled up the middle in the seventh.

Welcome Back

Arkansas righthander James Mahler made his first appearance since March 16. Mahler, who's been sidelined with a sore arm, came in relief of Shaun Seibert in the ninth inning of Wednesday night's game. He didn't allow a hit and struck out two.

Impressive Numbers

Coming into Wednesday night's game, Alcorn State had three players averaging .400 or better and three others with averages higher than .300. Joel Del Grande was the team leader with a .479 average with 26 RBIs in 26 games. Wednesday night, DeGrande went 1-for-4.
