SPRINGDALE - For the second time in a year, a bank branch on East Robinson Avenue has been robbed.

Pulaski Bank, 2422 E. Robinson Ave., was robbed around 4 p.m. Tuesday by an armed man, who left with an undetermined amount of money. The bank, formerly ANB bank, was robbed in April 2007.

The bank robber is described as a white male, with a height of 5-9 or 5-10, a medium build, and wearing dark clothing, a rounded golf-style hat and a black bandana over his face, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.

Two brothers, Wesley James Sawney and James Glen Sawney, were convicted earlier this year of robbing the ANB branch and are serving time in the Varner Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction.

In Tuesday's robbery, a 911 call at 3:59 p.m. informed police of the robbery, according to the police department dispatch log. The four employees and one customer, in the building at the time of the robbery, were forced to lay on the floor except for the teller the robber told to give him money, according to the log.

The robber left through the east door, the same way he came, according to police. Witnesses didn't see a vehicle or an accomplice. The robber was carrying a police scanner while in the bank, according to the log.

Police attempted to track the robber along a fence behind Gillihan Properties, east of the bank, with a police dog. The search was unsuccessful. A school bus dropped off about 35 children in the middle of the track, according to the log.

ANB Bank was taken over by Pulaski Bank last week after ANB was closed by federal bank regulators.

The case is under investigation by the police department. Police also contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to scanner traffic. Anyone with information can call 750-8139.
