BENTONVILLE - Benton County voters rejected two women Tuesday who had hoped to follow their husbands into legislative service.
Final but unofficial results had Duncan Baird of Lowell ahead of Linda Bisbee of Rogers in the House District 95.
Baird, 28, is an investment adviser who won Tuesday in his second bid for the office.
Bisbee, 55, is the wife of state Sen. David Bisbee, R-Rogers, and co-owner of their home construction business. Both are running to replace Rep. Aaron Burkes, R-Lowell, who decided against running for re-election.
With all precincts reporting, Baird's received 1,697 (53 percent) to Bisbee's 1,433 votes (44 percent).
In District 99, long-time Benton County Justice of the Peace Tim Summers, 63, won against Vickey Boozman, 61, of Cave Springs. Both are running for the seat being left by the term-limited Rep. Horace Hardwick, R-Bentonville.
Summers is chairman of the quorum court's budget committee.
Boozman is the widow of Fay Boozman, former state senator and state Department of Health director. Vickey Boozman also is the sister-in-law of U.S. Rep. John Boozman of Rogers and a long-time Republican campaign organizer.
With all 83 precincts reporting, Summers' got 1,691 (56 percent) and Boozman received 1,554 votes (47 percent).
The third race was between two residents of Gravette: Alderman Byron Warren and Benton County Clerk Mary L. Slinkard. This is the race for northwest Benton County's District 100. Rep. Daryl Pace, R-Siloam Springs, is term-limited.
Final though unofficial results show Slinkard receiving 1,159 votes (54 percent) to Warren's 977 (46 percent).
None of the winners will face Democratic opposition in November's general election and will take office barring write-in candidates or other unlikely changes.
