Razorbacks In Tough Spot

Arkansas joined 32 other NCAA Tournament teams in the one place nobody wants to be right now - the loser's bracket.

Down 0-1 after a first-round loss and facing elimination, the Razorbacks must win today or else it's an early exit from the regionals. For the Diamond Hogs, the opening-round loss is Arkansas' first since 2006, when it dropped a 4-3, 11-inning contest against Oral Roberts in regional play.

Arkansas avoided going two-games-and-out in 2006. That hasn't happened to the Razorbacks since 1996, when they went 0-2 at the Central II Regional in Lubbock, Texas.

California Dreamin'

Arkansas' appearance in the Stanford Regional marks the first time since 2002 the baseball team has visited the Golden State and just the fifth visit to California overall.

In 2002, the Diamond Hogs played a three-game series at Long Beach State. In 1999, Arkansas again met Long Beach State in another three-game set. The Razorbacks' other two trips to California came in 1995 and 1990, respectively, when Arkansas played in a three-day tournament in San Jose and a six-game, six-day event in Fresno, respectively.

Regional Roundup

Arkansas was playing for the first time since May 19, a 10-day layoff. ... The Razorbacks failed to score four runs for the first time since April 15, when they lost 12-2 at Oral Roberts... A total of 19 men were left on base, 10 by Arkansas and nine by Pepperdine... The Diamond Hogs suffered their first three-error game since April 30 against Missouri State... Arkansas and Stanford will be playing for just the fourth time. The three previous meetings have all come in postseason play.
