The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Thomas Conley Smith, 21, of Springdale in connection with Internet stalking of a child.
According to a police report, Smith contacted a 13-year-old girl in an online chat room on April 18.
During a two-month period, Smith contacted the girl on several occasions and initiated sexually explicit conversations and discussed meeting for sex, police said.
Throughout the conversations, Smith told the girl he was a 21-year-old man from Springdale.
On Friday, Smith arranged to meet the girl at a local business in Fayetteville for the purpose of having sex, according to a police report.
At that time, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Thomas.
Police say Thomas admitted during an interview he chatted with the 13-year-old and admitted wanting to have sex with her.
Thomas was still being processed by the Washington County Sheriff's Office Friday.
