    Anthony Woodham

    ROGERS - Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Woodham, 37, of Rogers, died July 5, 2008, at Camp Adder, Iraq.

    He was born Sept. 22, 1970, in Newport to Lyndle Woodham and Katherine Scoggin Woodham.

    Anthony was the salutatorian of his graduating class of 1988 at Concord High School, Concord. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, enjoyed hunting, camping and spending quality time with his family.

    Anthony's passion was restoring and fixing up Ford Mustangs, and was a NASCAR fan. He loved his four Chocolate Labs, Hershey, Cocoa, Zena, and Boomhower. Before being sent to Iraq he had been employed by Springdale Dodge. Anthony was the motor sergeant for Delta Company, 1st Squadron, 151st Cavalry Regiment of Arkansas' 39th Infantry Brigade.

    Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Crystal Woodham of the home; his son, Patrick Woodham of the home, his son, Mitchell Woodham of the home; his daughter, Courtney Woodham of the home; his mother, Katherine Woodham of Drasco; a sister, Robin Cotten of Drasco; his father and mother-in-law, Dan and Peggy Pettay of Rogers; sisters-in-law Staci Pettay of Bella Vista, Kylie Sutton and her husband, Bryan of Rogers, Erin Pettay, of Rogers; nieces Breanna Pettay, Payton Sutton, both of Rogers; nephews Trever Woodham, and Tyler Cotten, both of Drasco.

    Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Lyndle Woodham; maternal grandparents Junior Scoggin of Pleasant Plains, and Florence Briggs of Pine Bluff; paternal grandparents D.E. and Ruby Woodham of Concord and a cousin, Jalissa Scoggin.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Southside Church of Christ with Jackie Chesnutt officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

    Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Southside Church of Christ.

    The family request that those attending the funeral, in honor of Anthony, wear something patriotic; red, white or blue, or camo.

    A memorial service in Concord will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Concord, with the Rev. Darvin Carlton officiating.

    Pauline Dotson

    HUNTSVILLE - Pauline Dotson, 75, of Huntsville died July 11, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Services are pending with Westville Funeral Chapel.

    Laurance H. Speer

    SELIGMAN, Mo. - Laurance H. Speer, 80, of Seligman, died June 30, 2008, at Pea Ridge. He was born March 23, 1928, at Del Rio, Texas, to William Marion Speer and Laura Gertrude Keller Speer.

    He was a corporal in the Army and served as a company clerk at Forth Sill, Okla. After an honorable discharge, he married Daisy Martin on June 1, 1954, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Del Rio as a clerk until his retirement.

    He was owner and operator of Gibb Street Laundry in Del Rio for many years. He was a member of the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston and attended First Church of Christ Scientist in Del Rio and Rogers. He was an early board member of the Border Federal Credit Union in Del Rio, a master Mason of Lodge No. 646 in Del Rio for 50 years.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Speer.

    Survivors include one son, Martin Speer and wife Linda of Fort Collins, Colo.; three daughters, Laura Cochran and husband David of Belle, Mo., Donna Speer of Pea Ridge, Judy Bachler and husband David of Pea Ridge; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

    Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

    A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge with Sharon Jeffrey officiating.

    Emil Lawrence Utecht

    SULPHUR SPRINGS - Emil Lawrence Utecht, 73, of Sulphur Springs, died July 10, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

    He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Cylon, Wis., to Emil Utecht Sr. and Jeanette Clemens Utecht. An active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siloam Springs, Emil was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered with many organizations over the last 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and bowling.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife Darlys and son Charles.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary Utecht, of the home; son, Kenneth Utecht and wife Andrea of Fayetteville; a daughter, Diane Sauders and husband Steve of Winslow; a brother, Henry Utecht of Gravette; two sisters, Evelyn Swanson of Cornell, Wis., Jeanette Bazille of Clear Lake, Wis.; five grandchildren.

    A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fayetteville, with John Antony officiating.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Father Flanagan's Boys Town, P.O. Box 7000, Boys Town, Neb., 68010.

    Frances Marie McNeely

    ROGERS - Frances Marie McNeely, 74, of Rogers died July 12, 2008, in Rogers. She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Amboy, Ill., to Elizabeth and Wayne Bloyd.

    She was a homemaker.

    Survivors include her husband, Frank McNeely of the home, one son, Ronald Gene McNeely of San Diego; one daughter, Dianna Elizabeth Jones of Dixon, Ill.; one sister, Barbara Lee Woodyatt of Dixon; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    A graveside memorial service will be held in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dixon.

    Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

    John Larson

    ELKINS - John Larson, 84, formerly of Elkins died July 8, 2008, in Edmund, Okla. He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Memphis, Tenn., to Wilber and Bessie Larson.

    He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Services Corps as a railroad engineer and participated in the Normandy invasion and aftermath. He was an engineer on the "City of New Orleans" train for many years and retired from the Illinois Central Railroad.

    He was a Mason of the White Oak Lodge in Memphis for 50 years and was a Baptist.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Larson and a great-grandchild, Shelby Jones.

    Survivors include two sons, Frank Larson and James Larson and wife Penney; a daughter Lyn Klee.

    Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beard's Chapel with burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, online at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com. Memorials may be made to Heifer International.

    William Allen Carter Jr.

    GROVE, Okla. - William Allen Carter Jr., 75, of Grove died July 10, 2008, at Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to W.A. and Birdie Stone Carter.

    He was a retired employee of Southern California Floor Union and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

    Survivors include a son, Stephen D. Carter of Grove; a daughter, Suzanne Sutherby of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

    Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

    Dorothy Alice Barry

    FAYETTEVILLE - Dorothy Alice Barry, 95, of Fayetteville died July 9, 2008, at her home. She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Henry Dietrich and Edith Beilfuss.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Barry in 1994 and was a volunteer for the Fayetteville Adult Day Care. At age 90, she was awarded the 2002 Governor's Award for the volunteer of the year.

    Survivors include her daughter, Dorthyanne Barry of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Elaine Williams of Fayetteville, Timothy Williams of Chicago and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Williams, Ethan Williams and Lily Williams.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Emmanuel Orgu officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Beards Chapel.

    The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 12 p.m. to service time on Monday.

    The family requests that memorials be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

    Fred L. Hesser

    WINSLOW - Master Sgt. Fred L. Hesser, USAF (Ret.), 68, of Winslow left his earthly home to join his Heavenly Father July 10, 2008.

    He was born Oct. 25, 1939, to Parl Van and Lola Irene Evert Hesser in a log cabin south of Winslow.

    He worked at Burn's Gables, drove a truck and spent 20 years in the Army/Air Force. After retiring, Fred bought the North End Service Station in Winslow and ran it for four years. He served on the Winslow City Council. He served a Sunday school director at Winslow First Baptist Church, he then moved to Kansas. He worked again for the federal government. He drove a truck and attended Cloud Country Community College and Fort Scott Community College.

    He was a member of the Winslow Masonic Lodge No. 530 in good standing. Fred married Marjorie Beth McKanna on March 20, 1966.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman and a sister, Parlene Evans.

    He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beth Hesser; two daughters, Angela Kay Ussery and her husband Scott of Jackson, Mo., Brenda Le Hesser and her friend Doug Dueing of Bonhardt, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kelcie Lea, Brittany Kay Ussery, Phoebe Marie, Christy Jean Hesser and Keenan James Lowery, all of Missouri; many nieces and nephews.

    Graveside service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15 at Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

    A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church at Winslow. Officiating will be Jere D. Mitchell.

    Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
