Application Deadlines Set For Frisco Festival Events

ROGERS -- The countdown has begun for the start of the 2008 Frisco Festival, set to take place Aug. 22-23 in historic downtown Rogers.
Entry deadlines for some festival competitions are less than two weeks away, noted Sara Mason, the festival coordinator.
• Chilisalsapeno Competition
The chili cookoff deadline is 11 a.m. Aug. 15. Mail applications to Ryan Hale, Arvest Bank, P.O. Box 809, Rogers, 72757, or call Hale at 621-1707.
Best Salsa Contest -- At least a pint jar of salsa and recipe due by 11 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Arvest Chili Hut on Second Street between Walnut and Elm streets.
Jalapeno Eating Contest -- Entries due by 11 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Arvest Chili Hut.
• Youth Talent Contest -- Deadline to enter is 2 p.m. Aug. 16. Applications are available at the Victory Theater, 116 S. Second St., or online at www.friscofestival.com. For more information, call Ed McClure at 636-0875.
• Frisco Idol
Deadline for entering is noon Aug. 23. Participants may sign up under the yellow-and-white striped tent at Second and Elm streets.
• Lake Atalanta Eliminator Runs
5K Run/Walk -- Register by Aug. 20 to reserve a free T-shirt. Check-in and late registration begin at 6:45 a.m. Aug. 23 at Lake Atalanta near the boathouse. For more information, call Stacie Falls at 925-3492.
1K Kids Run -- Register by Aug. 20 to reserve a free T-shirt. Check-in and late registration begin at 6:45 a.m. and end at 7:20 a.m. Aug. 23 at the caboose in Frisco Park, First and Walnut streets. For more information, call Dan or Beci Cummins at 631-8860.
• Fireman's Muster -- Call David Thompson at 640-0826 for more information.
• Kid's Muster -- 8:30 a.m. Aug. 23. Participants may sign up at Second and Poplar streets.
• Summer's End Corvette Show -- For registration before Aug. 15: First car $30, additional cars $15. For registration after Aug. 15: First car $35, additional cars $15.
