Health ConferenceScheduled Saturday
FAYETTEVILLE - Washington Regional Medical Center will host the 2008 Speaking of Women's Health Conference, titled "Discover Your Everyday Super Heroes," from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers.
The conference will feature nationally recognized speakers, breakout sessions and lunch.
Activities include "Destination Wellness," a design area featuring health screenings, booths with health information and gifts from local and national sponsors.

Benefits JDRF
FAYETTEVILLE - A luncheon to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is slated for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at 3810 N. Front St.
Prudential First Alliance Realtors is hosting the luncheon.
The Friday event is designed to promote awareness for the Walk to Cure Diabetes scheduled for Sept. 13. Lunch will be $5 and consist of hamburgers and hot dogs with trimmings. All proceeds will be donated to JDRF.

SPRINGDALE - The Alzheimer's Association will present Brain Health Strategies workshops from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Jones Center for Families. The Schmieding Center for Senior Education has scheduled the following courses:

Driving Course Offered Aug. 16
FAYETTEVILLE - The AARP has slated a one-day course for older drivers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Fayetteville Public Library.
No tests are given, and AARP membership is not required. A completion certificate will be issued to those attending the session, and participants will be eligible for insurance premium discounts. Cost: $10.

FAYETTEVILLE - The Washington Regional Cancer Support Home will offer free breast and gynecological screenings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Washington Regional Specialty Clinic, 82 W. Sunbridge Drive.
The examinations are performed by physicians and registered nurse practitioners.

Diabetes Expo
Planned Saturday
SPRINGDALE - The local chapter of the American Diabetes Association will host a Diabetes Health and Wellness Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center.
The free community event (previously hosted by The Eye Center) will feature health screenings, speakers, a "Latino Zone" to include cooking and exercise demos and an Ask the Experts session. Registration is free but required.

Health & WellnessSlates Programs
SPRINGDALE - Community Health & Wellness, the health education department of the Jones Center For Families, has scheduled several classes.
All classes meet in the Harvey Jones Health Education Building, 610-A E. Emma Ave., unless otherwise noted. Upcoming classes include:
• Baby ABC's Class: The class gives the building blocks for proper baby care. The next class is scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12. The course is designed for new parents-to-be, grandparents-to-be, and other interested family members. Registration: 750-6550.
• Sibling Class: The course teaches children to identify baby-care items and provides the opportunity to discuss the changes occurring at home. The sibling class is recommended for children ages 2 through 10 years and will meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Parents are asked to remain with their children. Registration: 750-6550.
• CPR Classes: The classes teach participants cardiopulmonary resuscitation and techniques for helping conscious and unconscious choking victims and follow American Heart Association guidelines. Graduates will be certified in Basic Life Support for two years.
Health Care Provider classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Heartsaver CPR class will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday.
Heartsaver First Aid classes will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20.

• CPR for Family & Friends is a noncertification course for basic CPR skills. There is no cost, but space is limited for the class slated for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Registration: 750-6550.
• Stretch & Flex - meets from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Aerobics Room. Class is free.
• Balanced Bodies - meets on Fridays from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Free. Information: 750-6550.
Jones CenterSeeks Vendors
SPRINGDALE - The Jones Center for Families seeks vendors for the eighth annual Jones Center Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24. Table fee is $20.
