MORROW - County officials released the name Tuesday of a Morrow man killed Saturday in a house explosion.
Ray Jones died as a result of his injuries, which included burns on more than 80 percent of his body, said Washington County Fire Marshal John Jenkins.
Miraculously, the six other people in the house escaped without injury, Jenkins said.
The home on Store Road in Morrow exploded Saturday about 1 a.m.
Jones was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center then transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital burn ward in Little Rock, where he died.
Investigators ruled out a natural gas explosion though they discovered several natural gas wells nearby, Jenkins said.
There were four adults and three children younger than 8 in the house, but no one smelled gas, Jenkins said.
Barbara Prince, who rented the home to the Jones family, said the natural gas wells were not on the property but across the street on the same land as the Morrow Store.
Officials suspect a propane leak may be the cause of the blast and are still investigating the incident.
The propane tank did not explode. The home was destroyed in the blast.
Prince said the Jones family had lived in the house for 10 years and were good people.
"They have lost everything," she said.
