    First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs welcomes Timothy M. Rucker as associate student minister at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service.

    Rucker is a May graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Wheaton College in Illinois and was ordained to the gospel ministry in 2004 at Keene Terrace Baptist Church in Largo, Fla.

    His primary responsibility will be working with middle school youth.

    A ministry for college students begins meeting Sunday in The Loft, a balcony area above the main entrance. The ministry features student-led worship, prayer and Bible study on Sundays; worship time and small group meetings on Wednesdays; and study, retreat and mentoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    The Loft has its own coffee bar and wireless Internet access.

    Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers hosts Rally Day on Sunday. The event kicks off the fall program. "Mommy Magic," a clown and ventriloquist with a Christian message, will perform. Her interactive magic show features Stanley the Ding Dong Dodo Bird and balloon figures for children.

    Tom and Beth Parks of Rogers attended the biennial convention of The Couple to Couple League International, one of the nation's largest providers of natural family planning education to couples.

    The convention was at the Lifeway Ridgecrest Conference Center near Asheville, N.C. from July 29 to Aug. 2. More than 150 families attended. The theme was "Advancing the Culture of Life Through Natural Family Planning."

    Bella Vista Christian Church hosts Ben Merold, pastor of the Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles, Mo., at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. His talk is titled "Sufficiency: Learning God's Supply."

    The music series "It's Cool in August" ends at 6 p.m. Sunday with the Bella Vista Christian Church Celebration Choir and Orchestra from area symphonies presenting the musical worship, "Somebody's Praying Me Through."

    The Christian Center in Bentonville hosts Safari Adventure Bible school from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday in September.

    The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista welcomes the Rev. Dennis Ritchie as new pastor at 10 a.m. Sunday. The adult church school meets at 8:45 a.m.

    Ritchie and his wife, Carol, come from First Presbyterian Church of Claremore, Okla, where he served for the past 10 years. He is a graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

    Judson American Baptist Church in Bella Vista begins fall quarter classes Sept. 7. They include "Being Part of God's Plan," a Bible study of Romans; "Understanding Islam;" and "Images of Christ" as seen in the gospels and selected epistles.

    Bentonville First United Methodist Church hosts Sunday School Round Up at 10 a.m. Sunday. Parents are encouraged to attend.

    Children in kindergarten through sixth grades meet in Hines Hall. Two-to 4-year-olds meet in their classrooms

    First Christian Church in Eureka Springs hosts a community prayer service from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. A fellowship gathering follows.

    The church is one of 12 churches in the Western Carroll County Ministerial Association taking part in Canopy of Prayer 2008. The program seeks to cover Arkansas in prayer by having prayer vigils every minute of every day. People sign up for 24-hour prayer vigils.

    Fayetteville First Assembly of God begins Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University on Monday. The 13-week course teaches money skills and life-changing choices.

    Faith Regular Baptist Church in Springdale hosts gospel singing with the Brush Creek Boys at 6 p.m. Ice cream and other refreshments will be served starting at 4 p.m.

    New Hope Fellowship in Springdale presents "Renewing Your Mind," a seminar with Jerry Mungadze, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 6.

    The seminar will be at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.

    Mungadze is a graduate of Dallas Bible College, Dallas Theological Seminary and North Texas State University. He is president and founder of Mungadze Trauma Programs and the nonprofit organization Life After Combat.

    The seminar teaches a Christian way to work with unhealthy mental patterns that keep people mired in the past. Continuing education credits are available for mental health professionals.
