SPRINGDALE — A man was arrested Thursday in connection with allegedly breaking into several cars and a house at 1000 N. 40th St.
Dwight Liggett, 31, 1102 Rhodes Ave., was found by Springdale police’s Crime Suppression Unit fitting the description of a man who entered a house and was chased away by the homeowner at 8:38 p.m.
Neighbors at the scene told police the same suspect had tried to steal some items out of a tool shed, according to a police news release.
Two hours later, officers responded to the Kum & Go convenience store at 4251 Elm Springs Road to a report of a man trying to steal tools from the back of a pickup.
Police searched the area before locating a man later identified as Liggett who matched the description given by witnesses. All three identified Liggett as the suspect, according to the news release.
Liggett initially identified himself by another name, and had in his possession a check reported stolen on Aug. 20.
Liggett was arrested in connection with two counts of felony breaking or entering, felony residential burglary, felony theft by receiving and felony obstructing governmental operations.
Liggett remained at the Washington County Detention Center on Friday awaiting a bond hearing.
