ROGERS -- A routine traffic stop resulted in a felony drug arrest on Monday.

William Jackson, 31, 3663 Cypress Lane, Berryville, driving a white passenger car, was observed not using a signal to turn at Cypress Street and Dixieland Road, according to a news release.

An officer again saw the motorist not using traffic signals and stopped the motorist around the 100 block of Dixieland, said Lt. Mike Johnson, a public information officer.

The officer saw a pipe used for smoking marijuana in the vehicle, according to the news release.

Police searched Jackson's vehicle and found containers with peyote plants or mescaline, suspected psilocybin mushrooms and a small amount of marijuana.

Mescaline is a hallucinogen extracted from a peyote plant, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Web site.

Johnson said it's rare for Rogers officers to come into contact with peyote or mushrooms.

Jackson was arrested in connection with two felony counts of manufacturing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to signal.

Jackson was being held Tuesday in the Benton County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

" Sqirt, if you weren't such a sad little person I would explain this to you. People like you and Recross are just too funny when you go off on your ignorant little rants. I think if you pay attention to what going on you would find that Christians are not allowed to "washup" and those plants on the guy are legal ON THE RESERVATION. You know sqirt, a mind is a terrible thing to waste. "

" Riptide, just for the record, the Catholics give people under 21 wine to drink during their services which, although against the law, is allowed to happen. We need rational drug laws where we do not punish people for victimless crimes. "

" I looked at the defendant on the Benton County Jail website. He doesn't appear to be Native American, and his race is listed as "W" for white. Oh well, to err is human & to forgive is divine. "
