ATLANTA, Ga. -- University of Arkansas coach Robert Pulliza guided the Razorbacks to the first win of the season and the first win of his career as a head coach with a 3-0 victory over Georgia State at the Regency Suites/Georgia Tech Classic in Atlanta, Ga. on Sunday.
Arkansas (1-5) downed State (0-6) 25-22, 26-24, 25-21 behind a balanced team effort.
Junior Destiny Clark finished Sunday's match with eight kills and hit .316. She hit .333 for the weekend. Hillary McCormick finished Sunday's match with seven kills, hit .375 and had six digs and four blocks in the win. Arkansas opens its home schedule at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a match in Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville hosting Tulsa.
In action Saturday, Arkansas was handed a 3-0 loss by No. 25 Michigan. Arkansas lost 14-25, 20-25, 16-25.
Senior Yun Tang posted a career-best seven kills and hit .333 in the loss to lead Arkansas. Freshman Kelli Stipanovich also added seven kills while sophomore Heather Royal tallied six.
The Razorbacks hit just .103 with 30 kills and 20 hitting errors. Michigan, meanwhile, hit .379 with 43 kills and just 10 hitting errors on the night.
Tracy Sets Course Record
CAMBRIDGE, Md. -- Playing in his first round as a collegian, Arkansas' Ethan Tracy set the competitive course record with a 7-under-par 64 on Sunday during the first round of the Maryland Intercollegiate men's golf tournament.
The previous course record was a 65, set by assistant pro Phil Fenstermaker, a former University of Maryland player. The event is being played at the River Marsh Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort.
Tracy led the Razorbacks to the team lead after the first round. Arkansas' number-3 player had eight birdies, including the final four holes of the back nine. His back-nine card included five birdies and a bogey for a 31.
David Lingmerth and Andrew Landry each had 69, with Sam Chavez scoring a 70, as the Razorbacks had four players under the par-71 mark en route to a 272 team total.
Arkansas held an eight-stroke lead in the team standings over NC State, which was led by Darren Blair's 67, and Texas State, which got a 67 from Corey Roberson.
Individually, Tracy led by two strokes over Eric Onesi of Old Dominion, who had a 66 in Sunday's opening round.
