    BASKETBALL

    • SONICS TRYOUTS: The Springdale Basketball Association Sonics will hold tryouts for the coming season for players in grades 2-7. Teams are formed based on elementary school boundaries that feed particular middle schools. Players must reside in the Springdale School District. Coaches are also needed for the season.     • ROGERS ADULT LEAGUE: Rogers Community-School Recreation Association registration for the 2008-09 adult basketball season will be taken until Oct. 13 at the Rogers Activity Center. There will be two divisions offered: Men's Open and Men's Industrial. To participate in the Men's Industrial division, all players must be an employee for the team they are playing for. The entire entry fee will be due when the roster is turned in. The entry fee will be $500 per team. League players must live or work in the Rogers School District.     FOOTBALL

    • SIGNUPS: NWA Youth Sports fall tackle football league is extending signups. League is open to players in grades 1-7. League fees are $65 and some scholarships are available. Call 756-9459.

    GOLF

    • ARNIE'S ARMY: The annual Arnie's Army battle against prostate cancer 4-person scramble is Sept. 27 at the Kingsdale golf course in Bella Vista. It is an 8 a.m. shotgun start and registration forms are available at BV pro shops. The cost is $220 per team. All proceeds will go to awareness and research for prostate cancer through the National and Arkansas Prostate Foundations. Call 855 1755 or jrnvil@cox.net.

    • BV LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP: The Bella Vista Women's Golf Club will hold their annual League Championship on Thursday-Friday, Oct. 2-3 at Bella Vista CC (Thursday) and Berksdale (Friday). All golfers must have been a BVWGC member prior to July 1. Limited to the first 144 entries. All entries must be received by Sept. 23 and there are no refunds after that date. Entry fee is $50.     • ALS CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC: The ALS Association of Northwest Arkansas will host its 3rd Annual Golf Classic at the Bella Vista Country Club on Friday, Oct. 3. All proceeds will benefit local patient services programs in the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease.

    MISCELLANEOUS

    • PICKLEBALL: If you're looking for a way to exercise and stay fit, the old childhood game of Pickleball is being offered at the Springdale Youth Center every Mon-Wed-Fri from 9-11 a.m.

    SOFTBALL

    • HALLOWEEN HAVOC: The Halloween Havoc Unlimited Home Run Challenge is Oct. 18 at Hunt Park in Springdale. The event is double-elimination and USSSA rules apply. Entry fee is $140 per team and the deadline to enter is Oct. 16. Call 422-0510.

    • PLAYERS SOUGHT: The NWA Heat is currently looking for competitive softball players to complete their roster. They are currently 12U and will move to 14U in the fall.     • ROCK AND JOCK TOURNAMENT: The 25th annual Rock and Jock Slow-Pitch softball tournament will be held Oct. 18 at the Gary Hampton Sports Complex in Fayetteville. Entry deadline is Oct. 15.     TENNIS

    • PINNACLE CLASSIC: Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers will be hosting its final tournament of the year Oct. 17-19. Tournament events include Men's and Women's doubles levels 2.5 and up and Mixed Doubles for 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 levels. Entrants may enter one regular and one mixed event. The format will be a round robin with prizes awarded to winners and finalists. The cost is $50 per team and the entry deadline is Oct. 14. Call Jeff Stone at 418-7443.

    VOLLEYBALL
