LITTLE ROCK -- Opponents unveiled a DVD Thursday in their campaign against a ballot initiative seeking to ban unmarried couples living together from adopting or fostering children in Arkansas.

The video produced by Arkansas Family First features doctors, social workers, former foster children and others speaking against Initiated Act 1, proposed by the Christian conservative group Family Council.

Family First campaign director Brett Kincaid said production of the nine-minute video, which the group is posting on its Web site, cost between $10,000 and $12,000. Fewer than 100 DVDs have been made, primarily for use by speakers when addressing groups about the measure, Kincaid said.

Jerry Cox, executive director of the Family Council, said his group spent about $3,000 on 300,000 inserts for church bulletins campaigning for the adoption and foster parenting initiative. About 2,000 yard signs have also been distributed, he said.

Early voting for the Nov. 4 general election begins Monday.
