    Garden Club Hosts Benefit

    BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Garden Club will host its second annual card and game scholarship benefit from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road.

    The cost is $40 per table ($10 per person) and light refreshments, tea and coffee will be served. Proceeds from the benefit will go to horticulture scholarships and other community projects that the club supports.

    Republican Women Meet Monday

    BELLA VISTA -- Bella Vista Republican Women will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Concordia. The topic "What's happening in Bella Vista" will be addressed by speakers Mayor Frank Anderson, Tommy Bailey with the Bella Vista Property Owners Association and Jim Wozniak with the Bella Vista Police Department. Coffee service will begin at 9 a.m.

    Democratic Women Meet Tuesday

    SPRINGDALE -- Washington County Democratic Women will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Western Sizzlin in Springdale.

    Betty Parker from Arkansas Families First will speak on Proposed Initiated Act No. 1. The public is invited.

    Music Club Slates Program

    BELLA VISTA -- The Andante Club, a National Affiliation of Music Clubs, will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 4 in the choir room at Bella Vista Baptist Church, 50 E. Lancashire Blvd.

    The program will feature American women composers Andrea Ramsey, Braswell/Woodard, Amy Beach, Olive Dungan and Virginia Queen. Music composed by these women will be performed by Andante club members, including vocal and piano performances. All people interested in music are welcome to attend this or any of the Andante Club's meetings and programs.

    Retired Women Meet For Lunch

    ROGERS -- Wal-Mart Retired Women (Headquarters) will meet for fun and fellowship at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant, 535 N. 46th St.

    Genealogical Society Slates Program

    BENTONVILLE -- The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Bentonville Public Library for the program "Origins of Sayings," presented by Marcia Connors.

    Submarine Veterans Change Locations

    ROGERS -- The Northwest Arkansas Base (USS Snook Base) of the United States Submarine Veterans has changed its meeting place.

    The group meets at 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Texas Land & Cattle Co. in Rogers. All Navy personnel who qualified and served on submarines are invited to attend.

    Ladies Day Out Plans Altus Trip

    The Bella Vista Welcome Club Ladies Day Out will travel to Altus on Nov. 18.

    Participants will visit Wiederkehr Wine Cellars for a tour, wine tasting and lunch off the menu at the Weinkeller Restaurant. Those interested can visit the nearby St. Mary's Catholic Church, built in 1879 and known for its paintings and 29 stained glass windows.

    Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot across from the Bella Vista Town Center, just to the right of the Evangelical Free Church.

    Welcome Club Renews Memberships

    BELLA VISTA -- The Welcome Club is accepting renewal dues of $8 per person and $15 per couple for the 2009 calendar year.

    Newly joining members will have membership eligibility for the remainder of 2008 and the 2009 calendar year. The 2009 membership directory will be published in April. Checks made payable to the Bella Vista Welcome Club should be sent to John Eagle, 15 Evanton Drive, Bella Vista 72715.

    Caregiver Support Sets Meeting

    BELLA VISTA -- The caregiver support group sponsored by Village House Adult Day Program will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at Judson American Baptist Church, 1702 Forest Hills Blvd.

    The meeting will be facilitated by Sharon Comstock, Village House director, and assisted by Dorcus Jackson, Village House board member. Village House is a nonprofit adult day program dedicated to enriching the lives of participants and to providing affordable respite to caregivers. All caregivers are welcome.

    Calico Cut-Ups Slate Meeting

    BELLA VISTA -- Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive. A business meeting and program presented by Norma Chestnut will be followed by Show and Tell. Chestnut will also teach a class, "Funky Chicken," at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

    Exchange Club Hosts Spaghetti Supper

    FAYETTEVILLE -- The Exchange Club of Fayetteville will hold its fourth annual Spaghetti Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Ramay Junior High School.

    Tickets, available in advance or at the door, cost $7 and will enter those attending in a raffle for a Toshiba DVD Player, IPOD Shuffle, Streamlite LED Flashlite, handcrafted Adirondack chairs or 500 custom-printed business cards. There will be separate drawings for each and you need not be present to win.

    The fundraiser will advance the Exchange Club's mission to prevent child abuse by helping the club sponsor local organizations like Children's House, the Children's Safety Center, the Boys and Girls Club and the Sunshine Camp.

    Computer Club Sets Classes, Clinic

    BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Computer Club Inc. has announced computer classes being offered in November:

    • Basic Computing for Vista -- 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 3, 5, 10 and 12

    • Digital Photography -- 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 3, 5, 10 and 12

    • Getting Started With Computers (XP) -- 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 17.

    Fees for eight-hour classes are $24 for members and $40 for non-members, and the two-hour Getting Started course is $6 for members and $15 for non-members. Classes are held at the Computer Club's classroom in the lower level of the Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd., Suite 120.

    The club also will host a free Open House Computer Help Clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 in the club's classroom.

    Whodunit's Group Slates Speaker

    FAYETTEVILLE -- The Whodunit's Book Group, a club that deals with mystery and crime for both readers and writers, will meet at noon Nov. 8 at AQ Chicken House in Fayetteville.

    The guest speaker will be Joel Giarrusso Sharp, a retired FBI agent who has worked in New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago and Fayetteville and who has dealt with white collar crime, kidnapping and anti-terrorism. Newcomers are welcome.

    Mothers Group Slates Fair

    BELLA VISTA -- Bella Vista Christian Church's MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will be hosting its second annual Holiday Extravaganza from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road.

    The indoor craft and business fair will offer concessions and a door prize of a new sewing machine. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

    Vendor booth space is available for $30.

    Sunflower Club Hosts Dinner

    BELLA VISTA -- The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the dining room of Concordia Retirement Center.

    This is a deviation from the club's usual meeting on the third Monday of each month. Dinner will consist of a choice of two entrees with a salad, soup, dessert and beverage, and will cost $7.26. A skit, "Way Out West in Kansas," will follow.

    All former Kansans are invited to join, and there are no dues.
