Genealogical Society Will Meets Today
FAYETTEVILLE -- The Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society will hold an "Ask the Experts" panel discussion at 2 p.m. today at Headquarters House in Fayetteville.
The panel includes research expert Marcia Connors, local history expert Ann Sugg, legal expert Ray Niblock, preservation expert Carolyn Reno of the Shiloh Museum, and lineage expert Sue Thompson. Barbara Lewis will moderate.

Dementia Caregiver Group Forms
FAYETTEVILLE -- Washington Regional Senior Health will host its first dementia caregiver support group at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pat Walker Senior Health Center in Fayetteville. Guest speaker Betsy Arnold, director of the Barbara Broyles Legacy Foundation, will share some of her experiences about caring for her mother, Barbara Broyles, during her battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Liz Vanzant, outreach coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association, will present information about caring for loved ones during the holidays.
The support group will continue to meet the second Monday of each month and will be facilitated by Gilli Woods, education coordinator for the Washington Regional Memory Center.

Computer Club Slates Meetings
BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Computer Club, Inc., will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Community Room in the lower level of the Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.
Chuck Billman will present the program "Spruce Up Your Christmas Correspondence." The meeting is open to the public.
The club will host a free Open House Computer Help Clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 19 and Dec. 6 at the Computer Club's classroom in the Highlands Crossing Center.
The Genealogy Special Interest Group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Computer Club's classroom. This will be an informal meeting for members interested in genealogy and in helping new members get started in genealogical research.

Women's Club Sets Men's Meeting
BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Christian Women's Club will gather for its monthly meeting and brunch at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista.
This meeting is dedicated to the club members' men and will feature Mike Mondl, a comedian with the Village Players, and guest speaker Steve August, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks, who will present the program "Finding the True Pinnacle of Success."
The meeting is nondenominational and open to the public.
The brunch costs $10, and reservations must be honored or canceled.

Writers Group Reorganizes
FAYETTEVILLE -- The St. John's Writers Group is reorganizing starting Tuesday. The club will now meet at 1:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2730 E. Township St. The club focuses on recording life stories and memoirs. Participants are encouraged to bring a pen, paper and memories.
The meetings are open to all; no previous writing experience is needed. There are no class fees.

Book Clubs Gather For Annual Celebration
FAYETTEVILLE -- The Fayetteville Public Library will host its annual Gathering of the Groups celebration from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the library's Walker Community Room.
Area book club members will discuss their favorite book selections during the previous year, and author Molly Giles, an English professor at the University of Arkansas, will give the presentation "Everything I Know About Reading and Writing."
Lunch will be provided; registration is required.

Embroiderers' Guild Set To Stitch
BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road in Bella Vista.
The program will be "Partners." Members are encouraged to bring a 7-inch frame and the usual stitching supplies. Guests are welcome.

Federal Employees Host Speaker
BELLA VISTA -- Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will hold its regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Friday in the Robin Hood Room at the Metfield Clubhouse, 1 Euston Road, Bella Vista.
Breakfast will be available before the meeting or participants can stay and enjoy lunch after the meeting. Speaker Chris Knife from Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches will explain the group's mission to address, remedy and prevent child abuse by creating a safe and healthy environment for needy children.
All current and retired federal employees and their spouses are welcome.

Garden Club Hosts Benefit
BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Garden Club will host its second annual card and game scholarship benefit from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road.
The cost is $40 per table ($10 per person) and light refreshments, tea and coffee will be served. Proceeds from the benefit will go to horticulture scholarships and other community projects that the club supports.

Gardening Author Presents Lecture
FAYETTEVILLE -- Gardening author and radio show host Felder Rushing will give the presentation "Slow Gardening -- Less Input and More Rewards" at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville. Rushing, a 10th-generation gardener who likes to assure everyone that they can garden anywhere, also will sign copies of his books.
The presentation is sponsored by the Flower, Garden and Nature Society of Northwest Arkansas and costs $15 at the door for nonmembers.
PC User Group Slates Meeting
SPRINGDALE -- The Northwest Arkansas Personal Computer User Group will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Suite 217, 219, 221 of the Education & Computer Center in the north wing of the Jones Center for Families in Springdale. The program will be a question-and-answer session, moderated by Wes Eckles, president.
Visitors are welcome without charge or obligation. Membership applications will be on hand for those interested in joining.

Sunflower Club Holds Pizza Party
The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17 in the Village Insurance Community Room for a pizza party and bingo. Beverages and table service will be furnished. However, participants are asked to bring a prize for the bingo games.
The club meets the third Monday of each month. All former Kansans are invited to join; there are no dues.

BENTONVILLE -- The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Bentonville Public Library. Volunteers and members will be honored for their contributions during this past year.
Ladies Day Out Plans Altus Trip
The Bella Vista Welcome Club Ladies Day Out will travel to Altus on Nov. 18. Participants will visit Wiederkehr Wine Cellars for a tour, wine tasting and lunch off the menu at the Weinkeller Restaurant. Those interested can visit the nearby St. Mary's Catholic Church, built in 1879 and known for its paintings and 29 stained glass windows.
Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot across from the Bella Vista Town Center, just to the right of the Evangelical Free Church.

Starlight Club Plans Dance
BELLA VISTA -- Starlight Ballroom Dancers will meet Nov. 19 at Riordan Hall, 2 Riordan Road. There will be a dancing lesson from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by dancing to recorded music until 9 p.m.
Entry to Riordan Hall is $2 per person or free to those with a Property Owners Association picture ID card. In case of inclement weather, contact Riordan Hall at 855-8170 before 5 p.m. for cancellations.

Welcome Club Holds Breakfast
BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Welcome Club will host a breakfast at 9 a.m. Nov. 21 at Riordan Hall. The award-wining Bentonville High School Choir will be the program, and Papa Mike will do the cooking.
Club members will be contacted regarding reservations for this meeting; members who do not receive a phone call or e-mail may call reservations chairwoman Sue Schrader at 876-9983.
The Bella Vista Welcome Club is a social and charitable organization featuring monthly breakfasts, informative Welcome Coffees for new residents and a variety of special interest groups. The club is accepting renewal dues of $8 per person and $15 per couple for the 2009 calendar year.

Preschool Moms Slate Holiday Fair
BELLA VISTA -- Bella Vista Christian Church MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will host its second annual Holiday Extravaganza from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road. The indoor craft and business fair will offer concessions and a door prize of a new sewing machine. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Vendor booth space is available for $30.
