FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville High School Band will have a pancake breakfast Saturday to help raise money for its trip to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The pancake breakfast is scheduled from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Steak ’N Shake Restaurant, 4074 N. Mall Ave. The restaurant is on the street leading to the south entrance to the mall.
Proceeds from the breakfast will be used to purchase road meals for band members en route to New York and on the return. Road meals cost about $70 per student or a total of $14,000.
Some 40 and members are still trying to raise the $1,250 required of each student to make the trip. That money covers expenses, including lodging and food, while the band is in New York.
The band leaves Fayetteville on Nov. 22. The 200-member band will march in the famous parade on Nov. 27. The Fayetteville band is the first from Arkansas to march in the Macy’s parade twice.
Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $5 each and may be purchased at the door.
Band members also are selling tickets for a seven-day Caribbean cruise, offered by Holland-America Lines, to be awarded before the band leaves for New York.
