HEBER SPRINGS — Wes McMullen scored on a 20-yard quarterback draw with 46 seconds left to lift Heber Springs to a 33-30 win over Prairie Grove in the Class 4A state football playoffs Friday night.
The Panthers trailed 30-19 with 11 minutes, 27 seconds to play but they rallied for the win.
“A play here, a penalty there, that’s the difference in the game,” Prairie Grove coach Danny Abshier said.
Prairie Grove running back Thomas Soehner rushed for 147 yards on 18 carries and ran for two touchdowns. He also caught a 28-yard touchdown pass to pull the Tigers (5-6) within 19-14 at halftime.

Harrisburg Rips Greenland
HARRISBURG — In weather better suited for ducks, the Harrisburg Hornets clobbered the Greenland Pirates 47-15 in a first-round Class 3A playoff game at Hornet Stadium on Friday night.
Quarterback Zach Davis racked up 304 passing yards and five touchdowns in the first half as the Hornets rolled up a 35-8 halftime lead.
“He’s the best quarterback we’ve faced,” Greenland coach Tracey Sutton said. “He makes great decisions and is smart with the football.”
Harrisburg (10-1) took the opening kickoff, and after a block-in-the-back penalty, marched 66 yards in seven plays with Davis going 3-for-5 passing for 50 yards. Davis capped the drive on a rollout and a 33-yard strike to Jake Streeter.
Greenland (7-4) fielded the ensuing kickoff, but after a short return, fumbled and the Hornets recovered at Pirates 39.
“We started out right behind the 8-ball there,” Sutton said. “They’re a real good team and you can’t do that against a good team.”
The Pirates needed only four plays to cover 52 yards. The big play was a 41-yard pass from Craig Thornton to Jose Ventura. That set up a Jeremy Huber 10-yard touchdown run. Greenland ran a trick play, pitching the ball behind a wall of blockers to score the 2-point conversion.
Thornton was 8-for-25 for 99 yards and an interception for the Pirates. Ventura ran for 179 yards on 19 carries, including a 61-yard touchdown, and led the team in receiving with 41 yards.
For the Pirates, it was a tough way to end the season.
“We have been a bit of a roller coaster,” Sutton said, “but I’m proud of our kids. They played real hard and gave everything.”

The Tigers, which shared the 3A-4 Conference title, bowed out of the 3A state playoffs in the first round.
Green Forest (8-3) tallied its only score in the games final minutes when Robbie Ness plunged his way into the end zone from one yard out.
De Queen 49, Huntsville 0
DE QUEEN— Huntsville’s run to the playoffs was ended early — and convincingly.
Huntsville (2-9) and the fifth place team out of the 4A-1 Conference, had a difficult time stopping De Queen’s runnning attack, and fell behind early after yielding three first quarter touchdowns.
De Queen (10-1) rushed for 306 yards on 34 carries as a team, and were led by quarterback Zack Taylor, who tallied 76 yards rushing and pair of touchdows.
De Queen continues playoff action next Friday at home against Dumas at 7 p.m.

When is Tracy Sutton going to learn this is High School Football and you cannot throw the ball like the NFL.
Greenland was rich with running talent and will be again next year but why throw. The long pass is not for a team like Greenland. Short passes and the running game are what needs to be done.
Also he needs to play more of his kids. Greenland has loads of talent and only uses one player. Then cant figure out why its so hard to get experience on the team.
My kids a starter and has college potential for a division II school maybe he needs to go to West Fork or Farmington next year so we can get him noticed.
