    Weight Loss Club Slates Open House

    ROGERS — Take Off Pounds Sensibly, a nonprofit weight loss support club, will hold an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church on the corner of New Hope and Dixieland roads.

    Senior DemocratsWill Meet Tuesday

    Senior Democrats will hold their regular luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Western Sizzlin in Springdale.

    A program, “Arkansas and the Lack of Support for Obama’s Historic Victory: The Continued Role of Race,” will be presented by Todd Shields and Pearl Ford. Shields is the associate director of the Fulbright Institute and the director of the Diane Blair Center of Southern Politics and Society; Ford is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Arkansas and is affiliated with the African American Studies Program.

    Club members also will be presented with a slate of officers for next year, and nominations will be accepted from the floor. Everyone is invited.

    Crazy Canasta Moved For Holiday

    BELLA VISTA — Because of Thanksgiving, the ladies of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert M. Sterrett Post will host Crazy Canasta for community women this Wednesday instead of the regular fourth Wednesday of the month.

    Refreshments will be served at 11:45 a.m., and games will start at 12:15 p.m.

    The Post is located at 103 Veterans Way, adjacent to Lake Bella Vista and the Veterans Wall of Honor.

    Starlight Club Plans Dances

    BELLA VISTA — Starlight Ballroom Dancers will meet Wednesday at Riordan Hall, 2 Riordan Drive. There will be a dancing lesson from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by dancing to recorded music until 9 p.m.

    The club will hold its Starlight Christmas Dance on Dec. 3. Participants are asked to bring their favorite finger food at 6 p.m. to share at 6:30 p.m. Dancing with “The Happy Five” will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $7.50 per person, and the public is welcome.

    Entry to Riordan Hall is $2 per person or free to those with a Property Owners Association picture ID card.

    The club is open to the public.

    Ladies Auxiliary Meets Thursday

    BELLA VISTA — The ladies auxiliary of the Robert M. Sterrett Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9063 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Post, 103 Veterans Way, adjacent to the Wall of Honor at Lake Bella Vista.

    Members and guests may bring their lunch at noon to share in fellowship; beverages will be furnished.

    Military Officers Slate Dinner Meeting

    BELLA VISTA — The Bella Vista chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will meet Thursday in the dining room of Concordia, 1 Concordia Drive.

    A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Gary Compton, superintendent of Bentonville Public Schools, will update members on the latest developments in the district.

    The objective of the Military Officers Association of America is to support the men and women now serving and veterans of service in the armed forces of the United States. All men and women who once served as officers of the U.S. armed forces qualify for membership, and guests are always welcome.
