WEST FORK -- It's been a long week and a half for the West Fork Tigers.
After taking last week off with a bye in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, West Fork (9-1) is back to its normal routine this week in preparation for Heber Springs.
"Last week was a bit weird for all of us, but we're back and ready to go," West Fork coach Rodney Selph said. "Our guys are focused, we're rested, we're healthy for the most part -- I feel really good about the way things are going."
Selph, who went to Heber Springs (7-4) on Friday to scout, said the Panthers are very talented and will present West Fork with plenty of problems this week.
For the most part, Selph said, Heber Springs has quick players who have the ability to make big plays at any point during the game.
"We have to contain what they do best, that's going to be tough," Selph said. "I was really impressed by watching them last week, they're going to be tough."
Selph said the Tigers will be without defensive lineman Derrick Greenlee after he suffered a knee injury three weeks ago. Instead, sophomore Taylor Shaddrick will continue playing the position the rest of the season.
Siloam Eyes No. 1
SILOAM SPRINGS -- The Panthers have their biggest challenge of the season awaiting them in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Siloam Springs (9-2), fresh off an opening-round win over Little Rock Christian, travels to Class 5A's No. 1, Helena-West Helena on Friday. The Cougars are 10-0-1 this season, with their only blemish a 14-14 tie with Class 6A No. 1 West Memphis in nonconference action.
Helena-West Helena features Arkansas recruit Darius Winston and is ranked No. 3 overall in the state.
Despite the hype, Siloam has plenty of confidence itself after rallying from a 20-7 deficit against Little Rock Christian to pull out the 24-20 win.
"It's is nice and stuff, but we're not done," senior Nick Brill said. "I want to keep going, play at West Helena, get another win there and see if we can keep rolling.
"I don't care about stats right now, I just want to keep my high school career going."

Selby Still Questionable
GRAVETTE -- There is a chance, although it's a small one, that Gravette running back Teddy Selby will play Friday night when Gravette hosts Newport in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Selby suffered a sprained ankle in the Lions' 37-35 victory over Ashdown Friday night. It was first thought that Selby suffered a broken ankle but an X-ray proved otherwise.
Gravette coach Bill Harrelson said Selby was walking without the aid of crutches Tuesday but still said the senior is questionable.
"(Selby) has sprained it so many times it is a little easier to get over it," Harrelson said. "We are encouraged."
If Selby can't go, Michael Croasdell will be at running back. Croasdell started the season at outside linebacker but moved to defensive end in the fifth week of the season.
"(Croasdell) hasn't had a lot of carries but we have a lot of confidence in him," Harrelson said.
