Lights, Santa Herald Beginning of Holidays

The illumination of the Lights of the Ozarks on the Fayetteville square will take place Saturday. The Light the Night parade, themed "Rocking in a Green Wonderland," has changed its route this year and will start at 6:15 p.m. at the Fayetteville Public Library and process to the square following Mountain Street, East Avenue and Center Street. Santa will be available for visits after the parade.
Various food vendors, pony and carriage rides and choir performances will take place around the square throughout Lights of the Ozarks, which will remain lighted through Dec. 31.
New to the attraction this year will be a pet parade from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5. The parade entry fee is $10 per pet and pictures with Santa are $15, or $20 for both; proceeds will benefit the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

Bentonville
The downtown Bentonville Lighting of the Square will take place with live entertainment and family-friendly programming from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. A Winter Wonderland Parade, themed "Traditions of the Season," will start at 11 a.m. Dec. 6.

Springdale
The Rodeo of the Ozarks will present the 12th annual Christmas Parade of the Ozarks, themed "A Cartoon 'N Christmas," at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 in Springdale. The parade will depart from the rodeo grounds and proceed west on Emma Avenue to Maple Street. There is no entry fee to participate, but all floats must have lights.

Rogers
Historic downtown Rogers will hold its 24th annual Rogers Community Christmas Parade, themed "A Jingle Bell Christmas," at 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Pre-parade entertainment from school and church choirs and dance studios will begin as early as 6:15 p.m.

Malls
Santa will also spend some time at various area malls:
• Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville -- Santa arrives at 7 p.m. today; visits with Santa from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Information: 521-4267.
• Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers -- Santa arrives at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Information: 936-2160.
