FAYETTEVILLE -- Clear Channel Interspace Airport Advertising will extensively renovate its displays in the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, the company announced recently.

"The airport will be receiving an advertising 'face-lift' that will bring the terminal up to speed as the premier business center of the region," airport director Kelly L. Johnson said in Interspace's release.

Interspace has been one of the airport's partners since 1998. A recently awarded 5-year contract will allow the company to upgrade the displays and their technology at an estimated investment of at least $200,000, said Elizabeth Zuk, project coordinator for Interspace.

"By highlighting the businesses and attractions of the area, the Airport will continue to serve as a way finding resource for business and leisure travelers and networking tool for participants in the program, all while showcasing the diversity of businesses in the region," Zuk said in a statement.

Renovation highlights will include a digital liquid crystal display network providing full coverage of the airport with a wide variety of screens. There will be frames and scrolling displays in the security queue and commuter gate hold. Some displays will increase advertising displays by 200 percent, Zuk said.

The new system will provide clients with "100 percent exposure through out the terminal," Zuk said. "Since we are reducing physical signage this means that the replacement signage will be placed in key high traffic/dwell time areas while still maintaining the same level of clientele." New, larger display frames are also planned in the ticketing and bag claim area, she said.

"As for the rates they have always varied due to the size and location of the signage" but will remain comparable "to the current," Zuk said. The changes are expected to be in place by the end of the year, she said.
