The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista hosts women's Bible study "A Heart Like His" by Beth Moore. The in-depth study of David begins Wednesday and runs for 11 weeks. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon. Workbooks are available at the first meeting for $15.

Winds of Worship Sanctuary Church in Rogers begins a new children's Bible study series at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Area faith communities host Interfaith Harmony Day at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 18.
Organized by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville, the event features music, art, dance, food and education about a variety of spiritual paths. Participants include members of Baha'i, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Society of Friends, Buddhist and Pagan groups.

Former Iraqi General Georges Sada will speak in the morning worship service at Rogers First Church of the Nazarene at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 11.
Sada served as Air Vice Marshal in Saddam Hussein's military regime and later became principal advisor to former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. He acted as the lead consultant for the reconstruction of the three branches of the Iraqi defense system.
Now retired, Sada serves as director of the Iraqi Institute for Peace and as spokesman for the prime minister of Iraq. He is a leader in the Iraqi movement for reconciliation and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. His book, "Saddam's Secrets," is an expose on Iraq's weapons programs and the reign of Saddam Hussein.

SisterChicks, a fellowship for women, meets at 6 p.m. Friday.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) begins a new year on Thursday. The group meets from 9 to 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. All mothers and pre-kindergarten children are invited.

The Council of the Knights of Columbus at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bentonville has earned the distinction of Double Star Council, one of the organization's top awards, for the 2007-2008 fraternal year.
The award recognizes excellence in the areas of membership recruitment, retention, sponsorship of service-oriented activities and promotion of the fraternal insurance program.
This is the second consecutive year the council has received the Double Star award.
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville presents "Kindred Fire," two workshops on the topic of worship. The first, slated from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 11, will consider the deeper questions and theory of worship.
The second, from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 15, will be a more nuts and bolts approach.

Sponsored by Zondervan to celebrate and commemorate the 30th anniversary of the NIV translation of the Bible, the tour invites participants to hand write a Bible verse. The verses will be compiled to form "America's NIV Bible." The Bible will be published, with each contributor's name referenced in the index.
